Ximena Bernal
Laboratory Coordinator and
Artist-Researcher
I am a lyric mezzo-soprano and I teach vocal technique and psychophysical practices.
I have a degree in operatic singing from the University of Miami (USA) and did postgraduate studies at the Scuola Musicale, the Civica Scuola di Musica, the Conservatorio di Musica “Giuseppe Verdi”, and in the training program for choir artists at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, all in Milan, Italy. I am a yoga therapy teacher, trained and certified in Indonesia, Thailand, and Portugal.
My artistic history has been woven from different musical genres, working as a singer with Colombia’s major orchestras and co-creating with ensembles and other multidisciplinary artists at a national and international level.
I have directed various singing programs and projects in Colombia (Universidad Distrital ASAB, Bogotá’s Teatro Colón, Universidad de los Andes, Universidad Central, Conservatorio del Tolima, Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga).
I use the arts as a path for self-knowledge and transformation and have, throughout my life, explored various techniques of sound, movement, and breathing that I share in my workshops in different parts of the world. I have witnessed the profound impact of the arts as a means of revelation, healing, and expression of the ineffable and the sublime.
